Be transported to a back-woods blues joint thick with music, secrets and stories when Legends at the Capri presents B3 Blues at 7 p.m. Saturday, November 14 and 3 p.m. Sunday, November 15 at the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway. Tickets are $25 or $20 each for groups of 10 or more; available at thecapritheater.org or call Capri TicketWorks at 612-343-3390.
Two of the Twin Cities’ premiere vocalists, Yolande Bruce and Julius Collins, will portray the lead singers at “Cornbread’s Blues Den” with the inimitable Brian Ziemniak on the Hammond B3 Organ. Together they’ll bring you the music of BB King, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Ruth Brown, Brook Benton, Bobby Womack and more, in a blues opera style.
“The love story in B3 Blues will be told completely through the songs,” said Dennis Spears, Artistic Director for Legends at the Capri. “Yolande, Julius and Brian will light up the stage and the story in a way that will make you laugh, make you cry and awaken something within you. That’s the power of the blues. All you need to do is watch and listen.”
B3 Blues is dedicated to local blues legend, Cornbread Harris.
Note: Season tickets to all three Legends concerts (B3 Blues, Fancy Meeting You Here – the Crosby Clooney Story and Superstitious Thriller – a Jazzy Tribute to Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder) are available through November 15. Special Capri Star season tickets include a $40 tax-deductible contribution to support the Capri’s youth arts programs.
