Get ready to laugh out loud at Greta Oglesby’s fresh take on the age-old tale of Cinderella when Camp Capri students perform Cinderella! Coming to America! on Thursday, August 6 at 7 p.m. at the Capri Theater, 2027 West Broadway. The play is free and open to the public.
“From hip hop to African drums, to comedy and puppetry, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy in this show,” said director Greta Oglesby. “Don’t miss it!”
The junior high-age Camp Capri students have explored a broad range of the arts in this five-week summer program including dance, hand drumming, painting, poetry, spoken word, drawing and mask making. They’ve also had the privilege to work with some talented teaching artists including directors Greta Oglesby and Dennis Spears who are Capri teaching artists, Diane Robinson of Hollywood Studio of Dance, hand drummer Chico Perez, artists Melodee Strong and Doug Freeman, and Joe Adams and Desdamonna who created spoken word pieces and poetry with the students.
“It’s been a full-on, joyful, eye-opening experience for our students,” said Capri Director James Scott, “and you’ll see the results of all their great work in Cinderella! Coming to America!”
