Share and learn about Camden history

Interested in our local Camden history? The Camden Community Historical Society has been meeting for a few months and settled in to the following schedule: Third Wednesday of each month (except July) at 6:30, and will alternate between “Show & Tell Socials” and regular meetings.

The Show & Tell Socials will be low-key relaxed gatherings held at neighborhood eating/drinking establishments. They ask interested residents to bring in an interesting document, photograph, artifact or story related to the Camden area to share with the group, hopefully spurring on further discussion.

Regular meetings will be held at Patrick Henry High School and, in addition to discussing proposals and projects, will hopefully feature a guest speaker.

Upcoming meeting info: May 20, meet at Henry High; June 17, Show & Tell Social at North Mississippi Regional Park (bring your own picnic dinner, people are encouraged to get take out from restaurants along Lyndale Avenue North); no July meeting; August 19, Show & Tell Social at restaurant TBD; September 16, meet at Henry; additional later dates and details to follow. They will also have representation at a lot of the neighborhood gatherings during the summer.

Join the group and enjoy the interesting, entertaining history of our Camden Community. Spread the word about the group, invite people to the meetings. If you have any ideas for guest speakers, let them know. (They are looking for someone to speak at their May and September meetings). For info contact Eric Nystrom at ejnystrom@gmail.com.
